About this role

Oklo seeks a Process Engineer to design and optimize isotope production systems, including fluid handling, separation, and purification processes. You'll own system lifecycle from design through operations, develop prototypes, and ensure safe, scalable production while managing radiological and contamination controls.

What you'll do

  • Design fluid and process systems (piping, valves, pumps, heat exchangers) for isotope production and recovery
  • Define equipment architecture, specifications, operational modes, and performance criteria
  • Build and test bench-scale and pilot-scale prototypes with iterative refinement
  • Develop process documentation including P&IDs, mass/energy balances, and operating procedures with safety considerations
  • Conduct hazard analyses and implement risk mitigation for equipment failures, chemical hazards, and radiological exposure
  • Collaborate with vendors on equipment procurement, analysis, and validation testing

What they're looking for

  • Fluid and thermal systems design
  • Process engineering fundamentals
  • Systems integration and equipment interfaces
  • Radiochemical processing and contamination control
  • P&ID and process flow diagram development
