AI Deployment Engineer, Messenger Integrations

About this role

OpenAI seeks an Applied Deployment Engineer to build and enhance ChatGPT integrations with third-party messaging platforms. You'll partner directly with external teams to expand capabilities, improve user experience, and translate partner needs into product roadmap, balancing hands-on coding with cross-functional collaboration across product, engineering, legal, and go-to-market teams.

What you'll do

• Partner with messenger app teams to design ChatGPT experiences integrated into chat and app surfaces
• Deepen existing integrations by improving user experience, retention, reliability, and feature capabilities
• Build prototypes, integration guides, and launch checklists to accelerate partner time-to-production
• Debug and resolve API, latency, authentication, and quality issues across partner and OpenAI systems
• Translate privacy, trust, and data-handling requirements into technical constraints and implementation plans
• Travel internationally to support integration, launch, and post-launch milestones with key partners

• Software engineering and daily coding proficiency

• Product sense and consumer experience design judgment
• Distributed systems debugging and performance troubleshooting
• Clear communication across technical and executive audiences
• OAuth/login flows, API rate limiting, and mobile release cycles
• Privacy and data security expertise
• B2C product and messaging platform familiarity
