AI Deployment Engineer, Public Sector - Federal Civilian

About this role

OpenAI seeks an AI Deployment Engineer to guide federal civilian agencies in adopting generative AI solutions. You'll serve as a technical strategist, helping government customers identify high-impact use cases and shepherd them from prototype to production while collaborating across cross-functional teams.

What you'll do

• Embed with government customers as technical lead to design and prototype novel GenAI applications on the OpenAI API
• Partner with senior stakeholders to identify valuable AI use cases and build comprehensive AI roadmaps
• Accelerate customer time-to-value through hands-on prototypes and strategic guidance
• Manage relationships with customer and partner leadership to ensure successful deployment and scaling
• Contribute to open-source resources and codify best practices for the engineering function
• Deliver feedback to Product, Engineering, and Research teams based on customer insights

What they're looking for

• 7+ years technical consulting or equivalent experience with public sector customers
• GenAI or machine learning implementation leadership in government settings
• Python or JavaScript programming
• Technical communication across business and technical audiences
• End-to-end problem ownership
• Project management and concurrent initiative prioritization
• Systems integration and partner collaboration
• Solution architecture and API design
