Android Engineer, Growth

About this role

Join OpenAI's Growth team to build Android features that drive subscription adoption and engagement for ChatGPT. You'll own the end-to-end development of monetization experiences—from paywalls to purchase flows—while collaborating with product, design, and data teams to experiment and optimize for millions of users.

What you'll do

• Build and ship high-quality Android features for subscription growth, upsells, and upgrade prompts
• Own end-to-end development of growth initiatives from design through launch and iteration
• Develop subscription experiences including paywalls, purchase flows, and entitlement management
• Partner with product, design, and data teams to define experiments and measure user impact
• Use data and user insights to continuously improve the paid user experience
• Contribute to Android architecture, tooling, testing practices, and engineering standards

What they're looking for

• Android development with 4+ years professional software engineering experience
• Kotlin and Jetpack Compose proficiency
• Backend API integration and client-side architecture design
• In-app purchase and subscription systems (Google Play Billing)
• A/B testing and experimentation methodologies
• Analytics instrumentation and data-driven decision making
• Cross-functional collaboration and communication
• Consumer product development at scale
