About this role

OpenAI seeks an experienced full-stack product engineer to build user-facing experiences for persistent AI agents that operate as virtual coworkers. You'll design and ship both intuitive frontend interfaces and robust backend systems that enable people to delegate meaningful work to AI, balancing product usability with enterprise reliability.

What you'll do

  • Design and ship full-stack product experiences for discovering, directing, and collaborating with persistent AI coworkers
  • Build intuitive frontend interfaces for agent direction, progress review, action transparency, and work collaboration
  • Develop backend APIs, services, and data models supporting persistent agent state, asynchronous execution, and orchestration
  • Create workflows enabling agents to access context, use tools, and collaborate across workplace channels
  • Partner with product, design, research, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate capabilities into cohesive products
  • Embed trust, safety, and clear user controls into the product through reliable operational foundations and understandable agent behavior
