About this role
OpenAI is seeking a Research Engineer to develop and deploy retrieval and search solutions across ChatGPT and the OpenAI API. You'll collaborate with researchers to advance search algorithms and bring these capabilities to millions of users while exploring novel research directions in information retrieval.
What you'll do
- Design and implement retrieval and search algorithms for document, enterprise, and web-scale search use cases
- Deploy search methodologies into production systems serving millions of end users
- Conduct research on emerging retrieval and search topics to inform product strategy
- Partner with researchers, engineers, product managers, and designers on feature development
- Own end-to-end problems from research through production deployment
- Maintain and optimize production machine learning systems at scale
