Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure

About this role

Join OpenAI's cloud infrastructure team to design and operate the backbone systems powering ChatGPT and the API. You'll build scalable platform abstractions, manage Kubernetes clusters at massive scale, and ensure reliability while maintaining a focus on safety and responsible AI deployment.

What you'll do

• Design and build development and production platforms that enable reliability and security at scale
• Architect infrastructure to handle exponential growth and next-order-of-magnitude scaling
• Create abstractions over cloud platforms to enable rapid product shipping
• Participate in on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents
• Foster inclusive culture while encouraging rigorous technical feedback
• Operate Kubernetes clusters and core networking infrastructure
