Software Engineer, Identity Infrastructure Engineering

About this role

OpenAI seeks a Software Engineer to design and build identity and access management infrastructure that secures model weights, customer data, and critical systems across multi-cloud environments. You'll develop IAM platforms, automation tooling, and security architectures while collaborating with research, engineering, and security teams to balance innovation with protection.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain IAM platform features that integrate with cloud services while enforcing security best practices
• Design multi-cloud security architectures and tooling to protect model weights and sensitive assets across AWS, Azure, GCP
• Develop automation frameworks, APIs, and CLI tools for security tasks like credential provisioning and rotation
• Collaborate cross-functionally with researchers, engineers, and compliance teams on security requirements
• Implement and refine access policies balancing rapid experimentation with asset protection
• Troubleshoot complex identity and access issues across distributed systems
