About this role
OpenAI seeks a Software Engineer to build security and abuse prevention systems that protect AI platforms from adversarial threats. You'll develop detection tools, prevent fraud and misuse, and collaborate across teams to maintain platform integrity while advancing responsible AI deployment.
What you'll do
- Design and implement systems to detect and prevent abuse including financial fraud, botting, and scripting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on solutions protecting against adversarial attacks
- Respond to active platform incidents and build infrastructure addressing root causes
- Develop production backend services and data pipelines for platform security
- Own problems end-to-end from detection to mitigation
- Build tooling to accelerate security workflows and processes

- Backend software engineering (3+ years professional experience)
- Production systems design and maintenance
- Python, Postgres, Kafka
- Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
- Fraud detection and abuse prevention systems
- Data pipeline architecture
- Cloud platforms (Azure experience preferred)
- Problem-solving and self-directed learning
