Systems Software Engineer, Silicon Bringup
About this role
Lead the software bringup and validation of OpenAI's next-generation AI silicon, from first power-on through production integration. You'll design test strategies, build diagnostics and automation, and orchestrate cross-functional debug to ensure new hardware meets performance and reliability targets.
What you'll do
- Define end-to-end software bringup strategy and test coverage for compute, memory, interconnect, and I/O subsystems
- Build diagnostics, test automation, telemetry, and regression infrastructure to accelerate silicon validation
- Lead bringup from silicon arrival through board integration, runtime enablement, and model execution
- Design stress tests to characterize reliability, performance, and stability across workloads and conditions
- Debug hardware-software failures and coordinate root-cause analysis across firmware, electrical, and platform teams
- Translate architecture specs and performance models into measurable acceptance criteria and coverage goals
