Backend Software Engineer - Defense

About this role

Palantir seeks a Backend Software Engineer to build mission-critical defense software that enables secure data integration, visualization, and analysis for military operations worldwide. You'll work across the full product lifecycle collaborating with cross-functional teams to architect scalable systems and solve complex operational challenges.

What you'll do

• Design and build backend systems handling large-scale data processing and integration
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate customer needs into technical solutions
• Architect APIs and system primitives for defense applications including command centers and operational tools
• Optimize system performance and reliability for low-latency operational requirements
• Participate in code review, design discussions, and knowledge sharing across teams
• Work autonomously on full product lifecycle phases from conception through production deployment
