Software Engineer, AI DevX

About this role

Ramp seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead the AI DevX team, architecting developer tools and infrastructure that empower hundreds of engineers to build faster using AI. You'll own critical AI systems, influence Ramp's AI strategy, and drive developer productivity across the organization.

What you'll do

• Architect and own AI-powered developer tooling and infrastructure platforms
• Evaluate emerging AI models and tools, making informed adoption decisions for the engineering org
• Build systems that offload work to AI and improve AI performance on Ramp development tasks
• Gather developer feedback and iterate on solutions to reduce friction and boost velocity
• Establish AI best practices and proficiency standards across the engineering organization
• Manage AI vendor partnerships as an advocate for Ramp's engineering team

What they're looking for

• 8+ years professional software engineering experience
• Deep backend engineering (infrastructure, services, data systems)
• Python proficiency
• Bash/Unix fundamentals
• Strong AI fluency and AI coding tool expertise
• Terminal-based development and tool building
• Productivity optimization and automation focus
• Startup environment experience
