About this role
Redwood Materials is seeking an Abuse Test Engineer to design and conduct tests that ensure the safety of their energy storage products under extreme conditions. The role involves collaborating with engineering teams to identify failure modes and develop robust testing infrastructures.
What you'll do
- Design and execute tests simulating extreme conditions and misuse scenarios.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers on product safety.
- Identify potential failure modes in electromechanical and electrochemical systems.
- Build test infrastructure for efficient and safe testing.
- Analyze test results and contribute to product design for robustness.
What they're looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Physics, Electrical Engineering, etc.)
- Understanding of failure physics
- Experience with UL9540a and thermal propagation testing
- Data analysis skills (MATLAB, Minitab, Python)
- Experience in designing data acquisition systems
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
