Design Engineer

About this role

Replit is looking for a Design Engineer to integrate design and engineering by enhancing its design system and optimizing front-end solutions. This role involves developing complex UI components, collaborating with product designers, and mentoring engineers to create efficient user experiences across their platform.

What you'll do

• Architect and implement sophisticated UI components and systems
• Lead the development of the Replit design system
• Create prototypes to explore new interaction models
• Collaborate with designers for precise implementation
• Establish front-end development best practices
• Mentor engineers on design and implementation techniques

What they're looking for

• 8+ years in front-end development
• Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React preferred)
• Knowledge of design systems and component architecture
• Ability to implement UI animations and interactions
• Strong communication skills for collaboration
• Familiarity with accessibility standards
