Battery Design Engineer

About this role

ALSO, an electric mobility startup, is seeking Battery Design Engineers to architect and build integrated battery systems for micromobility vehicles. You'll own hardware from concept through production launch, balancing thermal, electrical, structural, and manufacturing requirements while collaborating with suppliers and manufacturing partners.

What you'll do

• Own battery pack designs from concept through prototype, validation, and production launch
• Design and integrate battery hardware including enclosures, busbars, cooling systems, connectors, and structural components
• Develop tolerance strategies and release production-quality 2D drawings with GD&T
• Conduct first-principles analysis and rapid concept down-selection through prototyping and testing
• Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers on tooling, process development, and production ramp
• Troubleshoot manufacturing and field issues across mechanical, thermal, and electrical domains

What they're looking for

• Advanced 3D CAD modeling (CATIA V6/3DX preferred)
• Thermal, structural, and electrical analysis from first principles
• FEA tools (Ansys, Altair) for structural and thermal simulation
• Manufacturing process knowledge (welding, stamping, molding, fasteners, adhesives)
• GD&T and production drawing standards
• Hands-on prototyping and hardware validation
• Battery pack and electromechanical product design experience
• Supplier and contract manufacturer collaboration
