About this role
Rocket Lab is seeking a Ground Systems Engineer I focused on Structures and Mechanisms to design and commission mechanical systems for their Neutron launch vehicle. This hands-on position involves collaboration with suppliers and teams to ensure robust launch pad and test site operations.
What you'll do
- Design launch pad fixed assets and support equipment
- Create 2D and 3D models using CAD software
- Conduct risk assessments and system hazard analyses
- Perform failure investigations and support maintenance programs
- Collaborate closely with testing and operations teams
- Develop test plans for validating launch pad systems
What they're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong engineering fundamentals
- CAD proficiency, especially in NX
- Ability to read and produce fabrication drawings
- Hands-on mechanical design experience
- Familiarity with risk analysis methodologies
- Effective collaboration and communication skills
- Experience in failure analysis and troubleshooting
