About this role
Scout Motors seeks a Plastics Material Engineer to develop and optimize material solutions for next-generation electric pickup trucks and SUVs. You'll lead material selection, testing, and supplier collaboration across all product development phases while working within a cross-functional technical leadership team in Michigan transitioning to North Carolina.
What you'll do
- Select and optimize plastic materials for interior and exterior vehicle components
- Lead material testing, validation, and alignment with quality and manufacturing standards
- Collaborate on design reviews and material planning for interior styling vision
- Assess material performance data and predict risks for new applications
- Manage supplier relationships, timelines, and resources for material delivery
- Serve as technical liaison across engineering, design, and purchasing departments
