Software Engineer, Backend

About this role

Serval, an AI-native automation platform backed by top-tier investors, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build foundational systems for their intelligent workflow automation platform. You'll work directly with the CTO to establish architecture, ship core product features, and mentor a growing engineering team in a fast-paced startup environment.

What you'll do

• Build foundational platform components and system architecture with the CTO
• Design and implement key backend systems for an AI automation platform
• Establish engineering best practices and standards within the team
• Mentor junior engineers and foster technical excellence culture
• Deliver core product features and execute on technical roadmap
• Incorporate user feedback into technical design decisions

What they're looking for

• Backend software engineering (4+ years)
• Zero-to-one product development experience
• System architecture and design
• Cross-functional collaboration
• Go, gRPC, Kubernetes (preferred)
• AWS and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
• React and TypeScript (preferred)
• Applied AI product experience (nice to have)
