Sila is seeking a Materials Development Engineer to play a critical role in developing next-generation battery materials aimed at enhancing energy density and minimizing size and weight. The position requires a blend of hands-on lab experience, data analysis, and collaboration with manufacturing to transition innovative materials into production-ready solutions.

What you'll do

  • Design and optimize synthesis processes for anode materials
  • Analyze battery cycling data to link performance metrics with material properties
  • Characterize structure-property relationships in Li-ion battery materials
  • Collaborate with manufacturing for scale-up of materials
  • Translate R&D findings into actionable insights
  • Implement analytical methods for accurate evaluation of materials

What they're looking for

  • Ph.D. or MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • Experience in materials-focused industries
  • Track record in scaling synthesis and technology transfer
  • Knowledge of Designed Experiments and research statistics
  • Skills in battery and material characterization
  • Proficiency in JMP and Python is a plus
