About this role
Sila is seeking a Materials Development Engineer to play a critical role in developing next-generation battery materials aimed at enhancing energy density and minimizing size and weight. The position requires a blend of hands-on lab experience, data analysis, and collaboration with manufacturing to transition innovative materials into production-ready solutions.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize synthesis processes for anode materials
- Analyze battery cycling data to link performance metrics with material properties
- Characterize structure-property relationships in Li-ion battery materials
- Collaborate with manufacturing for scale-up of materials
- Translate R&D findings into actionable insights
- Implement analytical methods for accurate evaluation of materials
What they're looking for
- Ph.D. or MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics
- 5+ years of industry experience
- Experience in materials-focused industries
- Track record in scaling synthesis and technology transfer
- Knowledge of Designed Experiments and research statistics
- Skills in battery and material characterization
- Proficiency in JMP and Python is a plus
