About this role

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

Overview

Are you passionate about blending business consulting with advanced analytics? We’re seeking a Senior Value Engineer to join our FinOps & Spend Analytics team at Snowflake. You’ll collaborate with account teams and engage directly with customers to optimize their use of Snowflake’s cloud platform.

The ideal candidate brings:

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and Python to deliver actionable insights.

  • Technical Architecture Understanding: Familiarity with cloud-based systems, ideally Snowflake, to understand and communicate technical aspects in addition to financial optimizations.

  • Consulting or Sales Experience: Background in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), business/IT consulting, or consultative sales to engage and drive customer value.

Experience in FP&A and business consulting paired with strong analytical and technical skills, will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consultative Engagements: Partner with account teams and customers to frame and address complex business challenges through data-driven insights, focusing on cost optimization, performance enhancement, and ROI maximization.

  • Advanced Data Analysis: Analyze customer consumption data on Snowflake to provide actionable insights that attribute, control, and optimize spend across various business units, workloads, and use cases.

  • Cloud Economics & FinOps: Develop and refine cloud unit economics models, define KPIs, and support cost, usage, and performance benchmarks tailored to specific customer needs.

  • Strategic ROI Modeling: Build and maintain sophisticated ROI and economic models to support customer budgeting, forecasting, and the rollout of new Snowflake features.

  • Data Storytelling: Translate complex data insights into compelling narratives that influence strategic decisions, catering to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications in analytics or business management (e.g., MBA) are advantageous.

  • Work Experience: 6-10 years of relevant working experience, including 4+ years focused in data analytics, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), business consulting, or cloud data warehousing.

  • Business Consulting/FP&A Expertise: A strong background in business consulting or FP&A, with a proven ability to solve complex business problems using data and analytics.

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in SQL and Excel for data analysis and reporting – familiarity with Python and Snowflake or other cloud-based data platforms will be an advantage.

  • Cloud Technology Acumen: A solid understanding of cloud technology architectures, particularly in data warehousing, and experience in cloud economics or FinOps will be a plus.

Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
