Automation & Controls Engineer (Asset Engineering)

About this role

SpaceX is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to be part of the Asset Engineering team, responsible for designing and integrating advanced automated manufacturing systems for Starship and Starshield hardware. The role involves collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to enhance production capabilities at the Hawthorne factory.

What you'll do

• Lead design and development of automated manufacturing systems
• Develop motion control and robotic systems for manufacturing
• Write and maintain machine automation software
• Create user-friendly UI/HMIs for machine operation
• Design electrical and pneumatic systems for manufacturing
• Manage testing and validation of systems

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
• 1+ years in industrial automation design
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems
• Problem-solving skills
• Software development for automation
• PLC programming experience
• Strong electrical knowledge
• Experience with motion systems
