About this role
SpaceX seeks an experienced Automation & Controls Specialist to design, develop, and manage manufacturing and test infrastructure automation systems for Starship production. This role combines aerospace reliability standards with industrial controls expertise, requiring hands-on expertise in PLC programming, electrical schematics, and high-reliability system commissioning in a fast-paced production environment.
What you'll do
- Design and deploy end-to-end automation projects from concept through commissioning and team training
- Program and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for high-reliability manufacturing environments
- Design, layout, and modify electrical control panels compliant with NFPA79, NEC, and UL508A standards
- Create electrical and pneumatic schematics using Eplan and other CAD tools; redline and correct designs
- Audit manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and recommend automation improvements
- Manage contractor SOWs and coordinate external resources to support production timelines
