About this role
SpaceX seeks an experienced CNC programmer to develop and optimize toolpaths for manufacturing turbine blades and vanes on a new production line in Texas. You'll use NX CAM to program complex 5-axis milling operations on high-temperature superalloys, collaborate across teams, and drive process improvements from concept through production.
What you'll do
- Program 5-axis CNC milling operations in NX CAM for airfoil, root, and shroud geometries on nickel-based superalloys
- Verify NC code using simulation tools like Vericut and maintain version control of programs and setup documentation
- Optimize cutting speeds, feeds, and tool selection for carbide and specialty tooling to maximize tool life on difficult materials
- Recommend design and process changes to improve manufacturability and coordinate across EDM, drilling, and finishing operations
- Design and fabricate functional shop fixtures, brackets, and holders as needed to support production
- Meet production targets, identify bottlenecks, and proactively support machinists, engineers, and operations teams
