About this role

SpaceX seeks an Electrical Safety Engineer to design and oversee safety systems for large-scale AI and supercomputing data centers in Memphis. You'll manage electrical hazards, thermal risks, and emergency protocols while ensuring compliance with industry standards for high-density critical infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Oversee electrical safety programs including arc-flash analysis, LOTO procedures, and safe work practices for UPS, PDUs, switchgear, and generators
  • Conduct risk assessments and structured analyses (FMEA, HAZOP) for power systems, cooling, fire/smoke, energy storage, and human factors
  • Ensure proper grounding, bonding, power quality monitoring, and validate automatic transfer switch and generator failover procedures
  • Monitor and mitigate cooling-related risks including thermal runaway, hot spots, and extreme temperature/humidity conditions
  • Establish safe operating limits and emergency response procedures for CRAC/CRAH systems, chillers, energy storage, and liquid cooling
  • Develop, maintain, and regularly drill emergency response plans for power loss, cooling failure, fire, water events, and critical incidents

What they're looking for

  • Electrical system architecture and safety analysis
  • Arc-flash analysis and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Thermodynamics, heat transfer, and thermal management
  • Risk assessment methodologies (FMEA, HAZOP, root cause analysis)
