About this role
SpaceX seeks an Electrical Safety Engineer to establish and oversee comprehensive electrical safety protocols for large-scale AI supercomputing facilities in Memphis. The role focuses on managing high-density power systems, arc-flash hazards, and personnel protection across UPS, generators, switchgear, and battery storage infrastructure while ensuring compliance with NFPA 70E and other applicable standards.
What you'll do
- Own and implement site electrical safety program per NFPA 70E standards, including shock protection, arc-flash protocols, and energized work permits
- Develop and maintain lockout/tagout procedures, switching orders, and live-dead-live verification for critical power equipment (UPS, PDUs, switchgear, generators, batteries)
- Conduct arc-flash hazard analysis using IEEE 1584, maintain equipment labeling, and define PPE categories and approach boundaries
- Qualify and train electrical workers as NFPA 70E Qualified Persons; deliver safety training to operators, technicians, and contractors
- Review energized work and commissioning procedures for safety compliance; investigate incidents and drive root-cause corrective actions
- Coordinate with design and construction teams to integrate electrical safety into new facility expansions and validate failover procedures
