SpaceX
Facilities Engineer (Fluids & Cryogenics)
About this role
SpaceX seeks a Facilities Engineer specializing in fluids and cryogenics to design, install, and maintain industrial mechanical systems at the Redmond Starlink Production facility. You'll troubleshoot compressed air, cryogenic, and hydronic systems while driving continuous improvement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting mission-critical production operations.
What you'll do
- Design, install, and maintain industrial compressed air and cryogenic systems (liquid nitrogen, argon, gaseous nitrogen)
- Perform equipment sizing, selection, and engineering calculations for pumps, valves, compressors, and pressure vessels
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to optimize reliability and energy efficiency
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and system-level issues through root cause analysis and rapid emergency response
- Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications to ensure design integrity and code compliance
- Manage contractors and vendors for maintenance and capital projects while collaborating with controls, electrical, and automation teams
What they're looking for
- Compressed air and cryogenic system design and operation
- Fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
- Rotating equipment knowledge (compressors, pumps, fans, vacuum equipment)
- P&ID interpretation and engineering calculations
- ASME, NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, and API code compliance
- PLC, SCADA, and building management systems integration
- Project management and vendor coordination
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis
Benefits
- Competitive salary range $100,000–$135,000 (based on level)
- Work on cutting-edge aerospace and satellite production technology
- Opportunity to support mission-critical facility operations
- Collaborative team environment with cross-functional engineers and technicians
