SpaceX
GNC Engineer, Phased Array Devices (Starshield)
About this role
SpaceX seeks a GNC Engineer to design and develop guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for Starshield phased array user terminals. You'll create real-time state estimation, beam-steering, and GNSS-independent navigation solutions for high-velocity platforms operating in challenging environments, directly impacting national security applications.
What you'll do
- Design GNC logic and beam-steering algorithms for Starshield phased array antennas with satellite tracking and hand-off capabilities
- Develop real-time navigation using onboard sensors and optimal state estimation techniques for angular and translational positioning
- Create GNSS-independent position, navigation, and timing (PNT) algorithms for denied-GNSS environments
- Implement C++ production software with validation, unit testing, and deployment for terminal systems
- Build high-fidelity models and simulations for algorithm development, validation, and prototype feature testing
- Collaborate with hardware engineers on terminal product design, sensor specifications, and provide customer support triage
What they're looking for
- C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink software development
- Attitude determination and state estimation algorithms
- Control theory and feedback systems design
- Inertial navigation systems (INS) and GNSS integration
- Phased array antenna systems and beam steering
- Orbital mechanics and classical dynamics modeling
- Linux development and real-time systems
- Loosely/tightly coupled state estimation techniques
Benefits
- Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
- Long-term stock incentives and employee stock purchase plan
- Paid parental leave and disability insurance
- 3 weeks paid vacation plus 10+ paid holidays annually
- Life insurance and various perks and discounts
