About this role

SpaceX seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead Starlink aviation hardware integration for aircraft installations. You'll own hardware from design through production and in-flight operation, collaborating with electrical teams and FAA designees to certify components and drive system optimization for next-generation airborne connectivity.

What you'll do

  • Develop Starlink integration design packages from site survey through design, substantiation, and qualification
  • Own aviation hardware lifecycle from conceptual design through production and operation for aircraft installations
  • Perform structural analysis using hand calculations, FEA, and CAD to inform design trades and product direction
  • Generate production and integration drawings with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis; drive design for manufacturability (DFM)
  • Lead design reviews and coordinate with FAA designees to certify components and systems
  • Manage product lifecycle from supply chain through final integration, balancing cost, complexity, and quality
