Mechanical Engineer, Mechanisms (Crew Starship)

About this role

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Crew Starship project, responsible for designing and building crucial spacecraft systems to support human exploration of the moon and Mars. This position entails ownership of the entire hardware development process, from design through production, focusing on long-duration missions.

What you'll do

• Design and analyze systems for Starship vehicles
• Perform calculations and optimization for designs
• Iterate manufacturing processes in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for integration
• Lead design reviews with suppliers and customers
• Ensure project delivery from design to recovery

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• 1+ years in mechanical design and analysis
• Understanding of structural analysis
• Experience in aerospace or aviation
• Proficiency in Siemens NX, Ansys, and/or Abaqus
• Knowledge of GD&T
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to perform trade studies
