Mechanical Engineer, Printer Design & Manufacturing (Raptor)

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Raptor 3D printer team in Hawthorne, CA. This role focuses on developing and optimizing the printer and its production process, requiring hands-on involvement with design, training, and collaboration across engineering disciplines.

What you'll do

• Address complex problems with a focus on efficiency and promptness
• Enhance production systems for reliability and high yields
• Create training programs for technicians on laser tracking systems
• Interpret blueprints across different assembly stages using GD&T
• Communicate with various stakeholders including engineers and machinists
• Oversee the design and implementation of custom production equipment

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or STEM
• 1+ years in mechanical project design or commissioning
• Proficient in CAD and FEA software
• Familiarity with model-based metrology software
• Data analysis and reporting capabilities
• Experience in structural analysis tools like ANSYS
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
