Software Engineer (Application Software)
About this role
SpaceX seeks a Software Engineer to develop mission-critical applications supporting launch operations, manufacturing systems, and the Starlink satellite network. You'll own full-stack projects enabling rapid spacecraft production and global internet service delivery, working on systems managing real-time data from thousands of assets and public-facing customer platforms.
What you'll do
- Design and build highly reliable, mission-critical software systems used across SpaceX operations
- Create new applications that improve manufacturing efficiency and launch vehicle production
- Develop prototypes to validate design concepts and identify technical constraints
- Analyze user problems and engineer efficient end-to-end solutions
- Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews with the engineering team
- Own complete software engineering lifecycle from development through deployment and monitoring

- Full-stack development with 1+ years of professional experience
- Object-oriented programming (Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, or Java)
- Single-page application development (React, Angular, or similar)
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Database design and SQL (PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
- CI/CD, build systems (Bazel, Gradle, Make), and version control
- Stream data processing (Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ) and system design
- Linux/Unix systems and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
