Tooling Design & Automation Engineer (Starlink)

About this role

SpaceX is seeking a Tooling Design and Automation Engineer to enhance the design and development of factories supporting the Starlink broadband system. This role involves leading projects focused on automating production processes and ensuring safety and efficiency in manufacturing systems.

What you'll do

• Design and manage factory design projects from ideation to operation
• Collaborate on system-level optimization for machine design
• Refine production systems for high-rate and reliable processes
• Implement safety-compliant systems for manufacturing equipment
• Create schedules and budgets to keep the team organized
• Lead multi-disciplinary projects across various engineering domains

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
• Experience with CAD and FEA software
• 1+ years in mechanical/electromechanical design
• Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably Siemens NX
• Experience with complex mechanical systems
• Problem-solving skills in design and implementation
• Exposure to motion systems and industrial sensors
• Willingness to learn about electrical systems and PLC coding
