About this role
Stripe seeks an ambitious intern to work on real production projects across their financial infrastructure stack, contributing to systems used by millions of businesses. You'll own problems end-to-end, participate in technical design, and ship high-quality code alongside experienced engineers while learning how global payment systems operate.
What you'll do
- Operate as a full team member, participating in technical discussions and design decisions
- Write production-quality software with direct impact on Stripe's platform and users
- Engage in code reviews and design critiques to give and receive technical feedback
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and stakeholders to gather and incorporate feedback
- Learn rapidly by asking thoughtful questions and communicating work progress clearly
- Build with modern AI tooling and latest development practices
What they're looking for
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, systems design)
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Go, or Scala preferred)
- Ability to learn new programming languages quickly
- Experience working in multi-person environments and receiving feedback
- Open source contribution or collaborative project experience
- Problem-solving and adaptability under ambiguity
