Full Stack Software Engineer - Enterprise

About the Enterprise Team
Our team’s goal is to make Substack the default platform for the world’s most ambitious founders to build the media empires of tomorrow. We build features that help creators express their identity and brand, grow and understand their audiences, and run their businesses. We work closely with creators to understand their needs and turn those insights into features and reusable capabilities for the broader platform. Our work includes website customization, email automations, audience segmentation, analytics, external APIs, and more. You’ll take ownership of meaningful features while working closely with experienced engineers, designers, and product partners.
Responsibilities

• Develop features that help ambitious creators grow their audiences and businesses on Substack.

• Build custom websites and reusable tools that help publications express their identity and make customization faster and easier.

• Build audience tools that help publishers reach the right readers and understand what’s working.

• Collaborate with designers, other engineers, and external customers. From product concept and research to implementation and deployment, we expect you to own your work, with support and feedback from your teammates.

• We work with TypeScript, especially Node/Express and React, and Postgres. It’s helpful if you know these technologies already; if not, we’ll be excited to help you learn.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience, including building and shipping web applications.

• Take initiative and ownership of your work, communicate clearly about progress and blockers, and know when to work independently and when to ask for help.

• Hold yourself and others to a high standard when working on production systems.

• Take pride in building elegant and delightful product experiences. Substack works best when it gets out of the way so writers can focus on writing and connecting with their readers.

• Enjoy collaboration with a diverse group of thinkers while bringing your own unique experience and background to the team.

• Believe in Substack’s mission to build a better business model for writing.

Substack’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation salary range for this role is $140,000 - $260,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
