Swarm Aero is seeking a Structures Design Engineer to contribute to the design and development of their Group 5 autonomous aircraft. This role emphasizes hands-on design and analysis, with ownership of structural components from concept to flight. You'll be integral in creating robust, flight-ready parts, collaborating closely with manufacturing and participating in testing.
What you'll do
- Design and size airframe structures (wing, fuselage, empennage).
- Develop load criteria and perform FEA analysis (static, buckling, fatigue, dynamic).
- Select materials (composites or metals) based on weight, cost, and production rate.
- Collaborate with manufacturing on layup design, tooling, and assembly.
- Define and execute structural testing, including data reconciliation.
- Integrate propulsion, landing systems, and other aircraft components.
