About this role

The Autonomy Software Engineer will join STR's System Autonomy, Analysis, and Modeling Group focused on developing advanced autonomy and mission systems integration for national security. This role includes system development, testing, and leadership in creating robust software solutions using modern programming techniques.

What you'll do

  • Develop and integrate code for advanced hardware systems
  • Collaborate with team members on testing utilizing M&S and live testing
  • Lead small teams in implementing real-time applications with open architecture principles
  • Engage with customers to refine requirements and guide product development
  • Utilize algorithm optimization from higher-level languages into Modern C++
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and clearance requirements

  • Proficiency in Modern C++ and multi-threaded application development
  • Test-driven development and CI/CD practices familiarity
  • Experience with hardware/software integration
  • Cross-platform development knowledge (Windows, Linux, iOS)
  • Version control workflows familiarity
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
  • Leadership experience in technical environments
