Test Safety Engineer
About this role
Torc is seeking a Test Safety Engineer to support autonomous truck development by managing operational safety analyses, test safety processes, and risk assessments for autonomous driving systems. You'll collaborate across product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure safe testing protocols and maintain safety compliance throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Develop and maintain test safety processes for software releases and public road testing of autonomous trucks
- Lead safety risk assessments and perform operational safety analyses with internal stakeholders
- Create and document operational safety plans, requirements, and concepts for autonomous vehicle platforms
- Conduct safety analyses (FMEA, DFMEA, FTA, STPA) and evaluate test results to identify risk mitigation strategies
- Support incident investigation, accident response, and corrective action planning
- Review engineering specifications, test procedures, and design changes for potential safety impacts
