AI-Native Forward Deployed Engineer

About this role

Tread is seeking an AI-Native Forward Deployed Engineer to bridge the gap between its customers and the engineering team. This role involves directly working with construction companies, materials producers, and hauling fleets to understand their operations and translate those insights into product improvements and custom solutions, with a focus on rapid iteration and automation. As a founder-in-training role, the ideal candidate is comfortable coding and field work, contributing directly to the codebase while building strong customer relationships.

What you'll do

• Lead technical implementation for new customers (API integrations, data mapping, workflow configuration).
• Build custom integrations, data pipelines, and automation to address complex customer needs.
• Debug and resolve technical issues, often on-site, with a focus on rapid resolution.
• Translate customer pain points into shipped features and contribute to the codebase (Rails API, GraphQL, React).
• Automate repetitive tasks to free up time for customer engagement and complex problem-solving.
• Identify expansion opportunities and ensure the technical health of assigned customer accounts.
