Vast is seeking a Solar Array Engineer I in Long Beach, California, to aid in developing solar support systems for artificial-gravity space stations. The role involves designing, testing, and qualifying solar arrays while collaborating with various engineering teams.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and test solar ground support equipment
• Define requirements and trade architectures of solar arrays
• Select and qualify materials and vendors for solar arrays
• Develop processes for welding and adhesion of solar cells
• Test designs to AIAA S112 standards
• Interface with systems engineering and other teams for integration

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field
• Experience in mechanical assemblies design and verification
• Knowledge of photovoltaics and composite structures
• Familiarity with AIAA space solar design standards
• Problem-solving and failure analysis skills
• Experience with CAD and analysis software
• Knowledge of GD&T implementation and analysis
• Familiarity with spacecraft specifications
