About this role

Vorticity is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to develop and optimize computational kernels for their novel Scientific Processing Units (SPUs), a new approach to High-Performance Computing (HPC). You'll bridge the gap between mathematical algorithms and parallel hardware, translating scientific applications into highly optimized code across various environments. This pioneering role demands a blend of mathematical understanding, coding expertise, and a collaborative spirit.

What you'll do

  • Develop reference implementations of scientific applications.
  • Implement and parallelize applications using a proprietary SDK.
  • Optimize performance-critical kernels for the SPU architecture.
  • Iteratively benchmark, profile, and improve kernel performance.
  • Analyze applications across abstraction layers.
  • Identify and propose improvements to compilation and system efficiency.

What they're looking for
