Mechanical Engineer IV - Design
About this role
Voyager Technologies seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer IV to lead design efforts on complex defense and space propulsion systems, including rocket motors, actuators, and pressure vessels. This senior role combines advanced CAD modeling, thermal and structural analysis, materials expertise, and stakeholder communication for mission-critical projects.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize complex systems including solid rocket motors, actuators, igniters, hot gas valves, and rocket thrusters
- Create detailed 2D/3D CAD models and technical drawings with proficiency in GD&T interpretation and tolerance specifications
- Perform structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis using advanced simulation tools and validate models for performance
- Develop and evaluate material solutions for advanced ceramics, insulators, and refractory metals in high-performance applications
- Conduct trade studies and provide detailed analysis of design alternatives with optimization recommendations
- Communicate complex technical concepts through presentations, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration
