Manufacturing Design Engineer (Japanese Bilingual)

Waymo is seeking a Japanese Bilingual Manufacturing Design Engineer to oversee vehicle manufacturing planning and ensure alignment with design requirements. The role involves leading design reviews and collaborating cross-functionally to optimize manufacturing processes for autonomous vehicles.

What you'll do

• Drive vehicle manufacturing planning and schedules.
• Align manufacturing execution plans with design requirements.
• Ensure manufacturability and cost optimization of vehicle hardware.
• Lead design reviews for manufacturing processes and tooling.
• Define project scopes and push cross-functional actions.
• Serve as technical lead for contract manufacturers with some travel.

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
• 7+ years in manufacturing engineering or planning
• Hands-on manufacturing process development experience
• DFA/DFM methodology understanding
• Experience managing New Product Introductions
• Cross-functional collaboration proficiency
• Fluency in technical Japanese
