About this role

webAI seeks a Senior/Staff Engineer to build secure, distributed peer-to-peer infrastructure for edge-based AI systems. You'll design and implement resilient synchronization and networking systems using Rust, focusing on trustless, decentralized architectures similar to IPFS rather than blockchain.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement advanced synchronization and networking systems for distributed AI across edge devices and cloud-isolated environments
  • Architect data synchronization frameworks using content addressable storage, Merkle trees, CRDTs, and erasure coding
  • Lead performance tuning and optimization of distributed systems under resource constraints and intermittent connectivity
  • Apply security-first design through threat modeling, key management, and cryptographic protocol integration
  • Collaborate with MLOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams on deploying AI in restricted or air-gapped systems
  • Maintain testing, observability, and validation practices to ensure reliability and compliance
