About this role

Wilson Elser seeks a Data Operations Engineer to manage and optimize enterprise data platforms spanning on-premises SQL Server and Azure cloud environments. You'll ensure database infrastructure reliability, performance, and security while supporting data engineering workloads and automating operational processes.

What you'll do

  • Administer Microsoft SQL Server on-premises, Azure SQL Database, and Azure SQL Managed Instance environments
  • Monitor database health, performance, storage, and capacity; execute patching, upgrades, and migrations
  • Configure high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions including Always On Availability Groups and failover clustering
  • Manage Azure Databricks workspaces and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and execution plans
  • Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, Azure CLI, or Python; support CI/CD database deployments
  • Monitor production systems, respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and maintain operational runbooks
