Software Engineer, X-Scientist

Xaira Therapeutics, a biotech startup in South San Francisco, is seeking a Software Engineer for their X-Scientist team to create AI-assisted tools for drug discovery. The role focuses on developing backend systems and workflows to enhance the integration of AI and biological data.

What you'll do

• Build backend systems and APIs connecting AI models to scientific tools
• Develop tool-calling infrastructure, CLIs, and SDKs for researchers
• Create interfaces for scientists to perform analyses and iterate results
• Ensure observability and testing for scientific workflows
• Design systems for multi-step workflows with strong maintainability
• Collaborate with technical and scientific teams to simplify workflows
