Android Engineer II

About this role

Zello seeks an Android Engineer II to develop and ship features for their push-to-talk communication platform used by 175+ million users. You'll work on a small four-person team building the Android client that generates 80% of company revenue, with opportunities to contribute to a major architectural modernization.

What you'll do

• Own and ship features end-to-end across focused areas of the Android client codebase
• Write production Kotlin code daily and maintain legacy Java when needed
• Contribute to Android 2.0 rearchitecture including Hilt dependency injection and modular Gradle patterns
• Implement comprehensive test coverage and ensure code quality through reviews before shipping
• Use and improve AI-assisted development workflows and agent libraries
• Drive measurable quality outcomes such as crash rate reduction or performance improvements

• Kotlin (2+ years production experience)
• Java for legacy code navigation
