Test Engineer
About this role
1X is seeking a Test Engineer to design and build comprehensive test infrastructure for NEO's robotic hands. You'll own the full lifecycle of test systems—from fixture design and instrumentation to software automation and failure analysis—ensuring the hands perform reliably in real-world conditions.
What you'll do
- Design and build end-to-end test systems including fixtures, instrumentation, electrical interfaces, controls, and safety mechanisms for robotic hand components
- Develop test software and automation logic to configure profiles, collect telemetry, automate test progression, and detect real-time anomalies
- Execute tests hands-on: integrate devices, monitor performance, troubleshoot failures, and safely operate test equipment
- Analyze instrumentation data and telemetry to identify failure modes, trends, and anomalies; communicate results through clear engineering reports
- Investigate failures quickly to distinguish between test system issues and product defects; reproduce and diagnose unexpected behavior
- Build scalable, reusable test infrastructure and architectures that improve validation coverage and increase engineering throughput
