About this role

9th Way Insignia seeks a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer (Level 3) to support the VA's Cybersecurity Operations Systems Engineering program. You'll assess quantum threats to existing cryptographic systems, develop post-quantum cryptography migration strategies, and guide the VA's transition to quantum-resistant standards aligned with NIST frameworks.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical expertise in quantum computing, quantum information science, and post-quantum cryptography to support VA cybersecurity initiatives
  • Analyze quantum computing's potential impact on VA systems, applications, and cryptographic implementations
  • Assess existing cryptographic protocols, algorithms, and certificates to identify quantum-related vulnerabilities
  • Develop and maintain enterprise cryptographic inventory and risk-based migration priority frameworks
  • Create Cryptographic Inventory and Migration Plans defining transition strategies to quantum-resistant standards
  • Provide technical guidance for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203, 204, 205)
