Chief Mechanical Engineer

About this role

Allen Control Systems, a defense startup developing autonomous gun turrets, seeks a Chief Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering strategy and execution for complex electromechanical systems. As the highest technical authority, you'll drive design decisions, oversee testing and validation, and ensure mission-critical products are delivered from concept through deployment.

What you'll do

• Provide technical direction and review electromechanical design decisions across structural, thermal, motion-control, and manufacturing domains
• Oversee mechanical testing, validation, and qualification to ensure designs meet performance and operational requirements
• Own engineering execution from concept through deployment and coordinate with leadership on priorities and timelines
• Establish engineering processes, design reviews, and documentation standards to support rapid development
• Partner with product, operations, and leadership to align engineering efforts with company objectives
