Electro-Optical & Infrared (EO/IR) Engineer

Austin, TXfulltimemidAdded 1 month ago

About this role

Allen Control Systems seeks an experienced EO/IR engineer to develop sensor performance models, define system requirements, and support business development for an autonomous defense platform. You'll apply expertise in optical/infrared systems and digital signal processing to predict sensor capabilities across multiple spectral bands and contribute to next-generation detection algorithms.

What you'll do

  • Build and validate physics-based models in Python to predict EO/IR sensor performance across visible, NIR, SWIR, MWIR, and LWIR bands
  • Conduct sensor performance trade studies accounting for atmospheric effects, target signatures, and signal processing chains
  • Apply DSP techniques to event-based camera data for target detection, tracking, and discrimination algorithms
  • Develop and flow down system requirements for EO/IR payloads with full traceability
  • Support systems engineering lifecycle from concept through integration and test
  • Author technical proposal sections and deliver presentations to stakeholders and customers

What they're looking for

  • EO/IR sensor performance modeling and analysis (10+ years)
  • Digital signal processing on EO/IR data
  • Python programming for sensor analysis and data reduction
  • Radiometry and optical system design fundamentals
  • Detector physics and atmospheric propagation
  • Systems engineering and requirements management
  • Industry tools (NV-IPM, SSCAMIP, MODTRAN)
  • Technical writing and presentation skills
